Preparing for your spray tan! Tips & Tricks to get the BEST tan!

Updated: Jan 12, 2020

First time getting a spray tan??? No worries, you are in luck because below I briefly discuss what you should do before your tanning appointment to ensure you get the best and longest lasting results from your sunless tan!

First things first: EXFOLIATE!  Before sure to exfoliate at least 24 hours before you tan, and for even better results gently everyday leading up to your tan to be sure that all dead, flaky skin is removed prior to your spray tan application.

Next up: MOISTURE!

Moisturizing everyday both morning and night is important to keep your skin soft and supple. It is best to do immediately after you get out of the shower, while your pores are still open, so your skin can really lock in the moisture. My favorite moisturizer is coconut oil... Yeah, coconut oil---like the stuff you use in the kitchen to cook with! It absorbs relatively quickly and leaves my skin silky smooth! I use coconut oil for everything, but some of the reasons that I like using it as a lotion include the fact that its all natural, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients or fragrances, and it even has a natural SPF of 8! You can find it at your local grocery store or health food store, but I recommend buying it from Costco or Sam's Club--way more bang for your buck! Averages around $15 or so for a 56oz tube whereas at the grocery you get about 16oz for the same price.

Finally....RINSE!

Last but not least, rinse off all deodorant, fragrances, makeup before your tanning appointment. Doing so will help the tanning solution absorb into your skin naturally without the barriers of other products. Pay close attention to your armpits, remnants of deodorant can cause discoloration when the spray tan is applied! Thats it, you are now ready for your tan! But don't overthink it to much, its really quite a simple process. These are just a couple thoughts to help, most of my clients say their tan lasts seven to ten days when following these steps.

Now its time... Ready, set, TAN!!!
